Hip to gable loft conversions is were the side wall is built up to a gable design, then moving over the ridge line across making the full width of the house and then building the dormer just like a single dormer addition design. Hip to gable designs are created on end of terraced houses which 40sqm3 is allowed under P.D. or semi detached houses which is slightly more volume giving you 50sqm3.
